With Windows10 it stopped to work. Then tick the box for File name extensions. mp3 doesn't show up in GOM's file associates either. For some reason, that specific registry key doesn’t have permission to change the file extension, and that was the reason why those options were grayed out for me.
So I went to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations and tried to change it there; but sadly I was again unable to. The program did not appear in the list even after I found it via browsing and selected it. I suspect the problem relates to the fact that the OS is 64-bit and application is 32-bit.
