The computers cycle back in forth between working and this non-working state with seemingly no reason. The Mac's are 10.8.2 and I gotten two of them on the domain just fine. I could ask them for logs, but I probably wouldn't get anywhere. I have just confirmed that this works on an identical machine running 10.7.5.

We did add some domain controllers recently but those are the only AD changes I know of. I had to rejoin as it did not communicate properly with AD after the upgrade. It's also a good idea to check what your DNS is returning for service queries (especially if you're on a split domain).
